Community Development Commission of Mendocino County (CDC)
The CDC operates a number of housing programs for Mendocino County including Section 8, Shelter Plus Care and Veterans Housing (VASH) rental assistance. We also manage our own housing throughout our county. We administer programs that provide funding for home purchases and housing rehabilitation.
We implement energy efficiency programs for local governments with the assistance of PG&E.

THE HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER WAITING LIST WILL OPEN FOR THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS ONLY:
WILL OPEN ON APRIL 8TH, 2019 AT 8:00 A. M.
AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Family Unification Program: This program provides rental assistance for low income households in which;
- The lack of adequate housing is a primary factor in either the imminent placement of the family’s child, or children in out of home care; or the delay of discharge of a child, or children, to the family from out-of-home care; or
- A youth that is at least 18 years old and not more than 24 years of age who left foster care at age 16 or older or will leave foster care within 90 days, and are homeless; or at risk of becoming homeless.
How to Apply: Families must be referred to CDC by the Family & Children’s Services department. If this program seems right for your circumstances, please contact your social worker at Family & Children’s Services (707) 463-7990.
Mainstream Vouchers: This program provides rental assistance for low income households that consist of one or more non elderly person/s (between the ages of 18 –61) AND have a disability. Eligibility is determined by the criteria listed above, income for the family size, citizenship status and criminal history.

Pre-applications for the Mainstream Voucher Program will be accepted in person, by facsimile, or email with the original submitted by mail or in person.

All Mainstream Voucher pre-applications MUST be turned into the Community Development Commission of Mendocino County at the Main office located at 1076 N. State Street, Ukiah CA 95482. This can be in person, by email (firstname.lastname@example.org), or by fax (707-463-4188). All applications MUST be submitted before the close date and time.
Original pre-applications may follow, as long as a pre-application was received by email, fax, or in person on the days the waitlist is open.
NOTE: applications will be date and time stamped when submitted. That date and time will be the date and time of your application.

The Community Development Commission of Mendocino County requests that current program participants and applicants listed on CDC’s waiting lists who have been directly impacted by the recent wildfires to please contact us as soon as possible.
-Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) participants
-Permanent Supportive Housing (formerly known as Shelter Plus Care) participants
-As well as any families currently listed on CDC’s waiting lists
Additionally, our Project Based Voucher Waiting List is currently open. If you have been directly impacted by the wildfires you may apply and potentially receive a preference.
